I am constantly at work, not only quantitatively but also maintaining as high standards as are within my power, and this has been going on for some time.

From September 16, 1960, when he rejoined The New Yorker with "Imagine Kissing Pete," until his death on April 11, 1970, John O'Hara wrote five plays, one hundred and fifty-five stories and seven novels.
